GOP Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) did not rule out objecting to Joe Biden’s electors on January 6th.
Many conservatives are calling for this and have told her that this move would likely lead to her winning her runoff Senate election. A move like this would rally the Conservative base around her.
Shortly after voting, @SenatorLoeffler says she hasn’t decided yet whether she will object to Joe Biden’s electors on Jan. 6 in Congress.
“I haven’t looked at it,” she says, adding: “January 6 is a long way out and there’s a lot to play out between now and then.” #gapol #gasen pic.twitter.com/goy1pMZwmg— Greg Bluestein (@bluestein) December 16, 2020
She also isn’t acknowledging @JoeBiden’s victory, though several GOP leaders have publicly congratulated the Democrat for winning.
“My focus right now is on my race,” she says, pivoting to an attack on @ReverendWarnock. #gapol #gasen pic.twitter.com/P6O7AWbKFH— Greg Bluestein (@bluestein) December 16, 2020
Epoch Times:
Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) confirmed on Dec. 16 that she is open to objecting to electoral votes during the Jan. 6, 2021, joint session of Congress.
“I haven’t looked at it,” Loeffler told reporters in Georgia. “January 6 is a long way out and there’s a lot to play out between now and then.”
A spokesperson referred The Epoch Times to Loeffler’s remarks, when asked if the senator has decided whether or not to object to votes during the joint session.
To this point, no Senators have said that they are contesting the results. However, many have hinted at the fact that they will.
Four members of the House will object.
Two GOP Senators have come out and said that they may object to the electoral votes that come to Congress on January 6th.
Those two senators are Rand Paul (R-KY) and Ron Johnson (R-WI).
Epoch Times:
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) says he isn’t ruling out filing an objection to electoral votes during the joint session of Congress on Jan. 6, 2021.
“We’re still looking at all the legal stuff that’s happening with the legal cases and we’ll make our decision after we’ve seen all the legal challenges,” the senator told CNN on Dec. 10.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) recently told reporters that he’s leaving the option open as well. Johnson, the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, this week will hold the first congressional hearing on the election, citing “irregularities.”
McConnell is warning Senators to not object.
🚨NEW On a Senate R call just now, @senatemajldr, @RoyBlunt & @SenJohnThune all pleaded with Senate Rs to NOT object to the election results Jan. 6.
MCCONNEL: it’s a “terrible vote” for the GOP. They’d have to vote it down, which makes it seem like they are anti Trump, he said
