Looking back at the 2016 election will provide you with enough statistics to show the Republican Establishment formula is a losing one.
2017 Governor Race:
Before the pundits come in yelling at me I’ll inform you I understand that there is much more excitement over Presidential elections and that more people come out to vote for them. This has nothing to do with my point.
What do you notice from this two screenshots? The first thing is that every Republican must run on Donald Trump. Not just his agenda but him as well. Donald Trump acquired over 500,000 more votes than Ed Gillespie but also only lost by 5% compared to Ed’s 8%. This shows me that there were voters in Virgina who would vote Republican but either didn’t come out or weren’t impressed with Ed. This shows me that in order to win in 2018 and again in 2020 we must get those voters out to the voting booth.
The establishment must wake up and see the writing on the wall. Trump gets people out to the voting booths. Trump has the ability to flip some Democrats to Republican and by not fully having Trump’s back you will lose the excitement of the voters you need and hand easy wins to the Democrats.
