According to reports from multiple outlets, Jared Kushner is being considered for the next Cheif of Staff.
Having run through his first choices for his chief of staff vacancy without any luck, President Donald Trump is considering his own son-in-law for the job.
Jared Kushner, the husband of Trump’s daughter Ivanka and already an official White House adviser, met with Trump Wednesday about the job, a top Republican close to the White House told HuffPost. He and two others close to Trump or the White House who confirmed Kushner’s interest in the position did so on condition of anonymity to discuss the president’s staffing considerations freely.
Kushner has been pushing his own candidacy with Trump, citing his work on a criminal justice reform package and a claimed ability to work with Democrats, one person said. “I don’t know why he thinks that, when the Democrats are mainly going to be coming after Trump,†the source said.
The White House did not respond to HuffPost’s queries about Kushner’s prospects for the job.
Now, obviously, we should take these left-wing media reports with a grain of salt. Not only could they be wrong but they also only claim that Kushner is being considered. Going off the belief that the reports are true there would still be four other people in the running for the Cheif of Staff job.
However, if the reports are true and Trump goes a step further and hires Kushner as Cheif Of Staff that would be beyond a disaster. Although Kushner has a place in the Trump Administration there is no question that Kushner is a very progressive member of the Trump White House. He was against leaving the Paris Climate Accord and has been vocal behind the scenes about not being quite as much of a fighter in terms of the President’s rhetoric. As much as Trump is his own man hearing this day to day will take its toll on his style.
The bottom line is that Trump needs a Cheif of Staff who is a true Trumper and understands his base. He needs someone to help him stay away from the narratives portrayed by the media and keep his eye on his promises. Current Cheif of Staff John Kelly also has done his best to keep Conservative Media out of the hands of Donald Trump. We reported that John Kelly claimed to have read Breitbart every morning but we also reported he did his best to keep Trump from viewing a lot of the Conservative Media outlets. Trump is at his best when he is reading straight from his base and straight from the truth. We need a Cheif Of Staff that will go to war with Donald Trump and not try to keep him in a box.
