Memo shows scope of Mueller probe went beyond previously known mandate

According to a memo released by the DOJ, the scope of the Mueller probe was much broader than previously known.

Fox News:

Previously, it had been revealed that in May 2017, Rosenstein authorized Mueller to probe “i) any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump; ii) any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation; [and] iii) any other matters within the scope of [obstruction of justice laws].”

But, Rosenstein’s later August 2017 scope memo had remained largely redacted. The newly released version of the document makes clear that Rosenstein didn’t hesitate to explicitly authorize a deep-dive criminal probe into the Trump team that extended well beyond Russian interference efforts. (A third scope memo was also drafted.)

This shows us two things.

The first is obviously that this probe was looking for something to get President Trump. This was not simply an attempt to see if Trump colluded with Russia. This was an attempt to find any crime against President Trump. Did we know this before? Of course. However, now we have the documents to prove it.

CLAIM: Mueller trying to nullify Trump’s 1995 $900 M Tax Deduction to ‘ruin him’

This second thing this shows us is how much of a threat Rosenstein was. He was in on this whole operation. He had the ability to keep Mueller reigned in. He had the ability to make sure that Mueller’s investigation didn’t turn into a witch hunt and instead he helped Mueller do it.
