The Taliban has started rounding up a blacklist of Afghans who worked with the fallen government, or American and British forces, and is threatening them with Sharia punishment, an intelligence report claims.
Anyone who collaborated with the former regime must report to the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Military Commission†if they are contacted by the group – or their families face being arrested, according to the report.
People closely linked to the military, police or intelligence services are thought to be particularly at risk.
“The Taliban are intensifying the hunt-down of all individuals and collaborators with the former regime, and if unsuccessful, target and arrest the families and punish them according to their own interpretation of Sharia law,†the RHIPTO Norwegian Center for Global Analyses document says….
