According to sources who talked to The Daily Mail Epstein told guards he thought someone tried to kill him before he ended up dead.

The Daily Mail:

A separate source revealed to DailyMail.com that Epstein actually told prison guards and fellow inmates that he believed someone had tried to kill him in the weeks before his death.

This raises more questions as to why Epstein was not being more closely monitored.
