President Trump took a hard stand in his meeting on Tuesday with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, threatening to shut down the government if the border wall is not built.
The President concluded the contentious meeting by addressing Chuck Schumer’s accusations of an over-willingness from Trump to shut down the government. “I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck,” President Trump told Schumer. “Because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into this country. So I will take the mantel, I will be the one to shut it down. I won’t blame you for it. The last time you shut it down it didn’t work.”
