Trump Appealing Ruling That Would Give House Committee His Tax Returns

A federal judge ruled against Trump in a lawsuit that sought to block Congress from getting Trump’s tax returns.

The judge warned the House Ways and Means Committee Chair, Rep. Neal, against leaking the returns to the public.

A federal judge on Tuesday struck down Trump’s lawsuit to block Congress from getting his tax returns.

US District Judge of the US District Court for the District of Columbia, Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, dismissed Trump’s case to keep the Treasury from giving his tax returns to the House Committee on Ways and Means.

Judge McFadden told House Ways and Means Committee Chair, Rep. Neal that it would not be wise to make Trump’ tax returns public.

“Anyone can see that publishing confidential tax information of a political rival is the type of move that will return to plague the inventor,” the judge wrote. “It might not be right or wise to publish the returns, but it is the Chairman’s right to do so. Congress has granted him this extraordinary power, and courts are loath to second guess congressional motives or duly enacted statutes. The Court will not do so here and thus must dismiss this case.”

We all know that if these tax returns are given to Congress then the Dems will selectively leak them.

Attorneys for former President Trump said overnight they will appeal a federal judge’s ruling Tuesday that the Treasury Department can disclose Trump’s tax returns to the House panel trying for over two years to access them.

The ruling Tuesday stems from a case brought by House Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal against the Treasury Department under the Trump administration. The Justice Department under the Biden administration changed its posture in the case. And on Tuesday, District Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, granted requests from the department and the House to dismiss the case, according to CNN.

However, McFadden put the opinion on a 14-day hold to give Trump the opportunity to file an appeal.
