Two Soros’ funded groups are using Hurrican Michael to push for an extension in when Florida voters can register to vote.
The two groups are MoveOn.org and Common Cause.

Hundreds of thousands of Florida voters could be silenced if we don’t speak out right now.
Tuesday, October 9th was the state’s official registration deadline — but they’ve been under a state of emergency all week as Hurricane Michael approaches. That will prevent many Floridians from accessing services, documentation, or resources they needed to register to vote.
On top of that, the state’s Online Voter Registration portal has been experiencing technical glitches, with multiple eligible voters reporting they were unable to register.
It’s imperative that election officials give Florida voters more time to register. That’s what they did in 2016 as the state dealt with Hurricane Matthew. In that week, 108,000 additional Floridians registered to vote — who wouldn’t have been heard if that extension didn’t happen.
Now, with multiple close contests on the Florida ballot — including the Second Chances Florida ballot measure that would restore voting rights to millions of formerly incarcerated Floridians — it’s crucial that every eligible voter has the chance to participate and have their say.
We need to shine a nationwide spotlight on this voting rights crisis — because we can’t let any eligible voter lose their right to be heard in our democracy. Please add your name and call on Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner to extend the registration deadline by a week.
There are a few issues with what they are saying here. The first is that Hurricane Mathew took place during the time voting registration was still open. This meant that the Hurricane actually made it untenable for some voters to sign up in person(although some polling places said they stayed open). That is not the same as Hurricane Michael. Hurricane Michael hit after the deadline meaning it did not stop anyone from signing up in person.
The next is that the only reason it was extended was due to a Judge’s ruling. Judge Mark Walker(an Obama appointee) extended the deadline in 2016 after Governor Rick Scott refused.Â
Voters can also register online at any time from anywhere. This once again lessens the impact the hurricane has had.
John Tupps, Rick Scott’s spokesperson responded as well:
“the governor believes that every eligible voter should be able to register to vote and Floridians can go online right now to do so. In fact, nearly 10,000 people have registered to vote online since midnight.â€
Democratic Governor Andrew Gillum had a different take:
“I do think we ought to do whatever we can to extend registration to folks, especially given the fact that most people are trying to scurry away from these areas,†Gillum stated. “They aren’t thinking about voter registration.â€
The Democrats insistence on registering more voters is nothing more than a power grab. If they didn’t think they would be registering Democrats, they would be silent on this issue.
