Barack Obama’s photographer Pete Souza got caught pushing a conspiracy theory about the Trump Administration staging a war room photo of the raid that killed Abu Bakar al-Baghdadi.
ISIS leader Al-Baghdadi killed by US operation
The raid, as reported, took place at 3:30PM Washington time. The photo, as shown in the camera IPTC data, was taken at “17:05:24”. https://t.co/XV0MFfFiTt

He was then forced to debunk is own theory:
The latest reporting from the NYT: the helicopters left Iraq at 5PM (Washington time), and they reported it was about a 70-minute flight to Syria. So actual raid had to happen some time after 6:10PM. https://t.co/rErbPLJlpD

Josh Jordan pointed out that the backtrack didn’t get anywhere close to the exposure the Fake claims did.
Initial tweet implying that the Baghdadi situation room photo was staged: 16,400 retweets and 42,500 likes.
Follow-up tweets backtracking that it was staged: under 1,000 retweets *combined.*
Yet the initial tweet continues to spread like wildfire.

This is another example of how Fake News spreads regarding President Trump. One conspiracy theory spreads and then nowhere near that amount see the retraction.
