In a column, Patrick Buchanan laid out that foreign wars are like IEDs on Trump’s road to reelection.
Buchanan.org:Â
If there are IEDs on Trump’s road to reelection, they may be found in the Middle and Near East, land of the forever wars, and North Korea.
He also laid out that Americans are tired of war:
In former times, a confrontation or shooting war often benefitted the incumbent, as there was almost always a rallying to the flag. Those days are gone. This generation has had its fill of wars.
Buchanan is right on the money with this. He understands that Americans overall have had enough of the US going to war. Some view the wars as “imperialist” or “unethical”. Others view the wars as costing too much in terms of lives and money. Up to this point, President Trump has avoided the trap of war. He has walked the fine line of trying not to look weak and like you won’t defend yourself and getting the US into another war.
However, this battle never goes away. The Republican establishment is full of Neocons. These Neocons push President Trump to war time after time after time.
