Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren both claimed that the Bible would support progressivism.
The Daily Caller:
“The Bible, if it is about anything, is about justice,†Sanders stated at one point during his 20 minutes on stage. “It is about reaching out to people in need. It is about standing up to the wealthy and the powerful.â€
Sanders has previously described himself as “not particularly religious,†and said he’s “not actively involved in organized religion,†according to the Washington Post.
Warren also leveraged the Bible to make her points, quoting the Gospel of Matthew which reads “for I was hungry, and you gave me meat … I was a stranger and you took me in.â€
You have to love people who haven’t seen the inside of a church in years and have very little respect for religion telling those who are religious what they should believe. Nowhere in the Bible is their an advocation for government tyranny or a lack of personal responsibility. Nowhere in the Bible does it advocate for Big Government.
We also have that tricky thing where God is clearly against Abortion and is a major supporter of Israel as well.
