About half of all Republicans believe President Donald Trump “rightfully won†the U.S. election but that it was stolen from him by widespread voter fraud that favored Democratic President-elect Joe Biden, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll.
The Nov. 13-17 opinion poll showed that Trump’s open defiance of Biden’s victory in both the popular vote and Electoral College appears to be affecting the public’s confidence in American democracy, especially among Republicans.
Altogether, 73% of those polled agreed that Biden won the election while 5% thought Trump won. But when asked specifically whether Biden had “rightfully won,†Republicans showed they were suspicious about how Biden’s victory was obtained.
Fifty-two percent of Republicans said that Trump “rightfully won,†while only 29% said that Biden had rightfully won.
Asked why, Republicans were much more concerned than others that state vote counters had tipped the result toward Biden: 68% of Republicans said they were concerned that the election was “rigged,†while only 16% of Democrats and one-third of independents were similarly worried.
I would guess the real numbers here are likely higher.

According to a new You Gov Poll, 89% of Trump voters think President Trump should contest the election in court.
86% of Republicans overall think he should.
47% of independents think he should as well.

Whatever the case, Trump is forging ahead. When I asked him how quickly he might turn things around, he said, “I don’t know. It’s probably two weeks, three weeks.” He knows the situation. He has heard many people tell him it’s over and time to concede. But at the very least it is important for his most devoted supporters to see him fighting to stay in office. And he closed with a good-natured warning for everyone who has told him there is no hope: “Never bet against me.”
President Trump is not going to go down without a fight. He is going to see this through to the end. He isn’t going to listen to the establishment that is telling him to give in.
We know the legal case is strong. We know that there was clearly fraud in this election. We have a good chance to win this election.
