TV personality and heart surgeon Dr. Oz told WTTG Fox in DC that he is probably running for Senate as a Republican in Pennsylvania, arguing that Covid is now an endemic virus and something we have to learn to live with.
He would replace Senator Pat Toomey(R-PA) if he won.
Toomey is not seeking re-election.
The Ohio native would be joining the race to replace U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, a Republican who isn’t running for re-election next year. Those already in that midterm race include Democrats Pa. Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, Rep. Conor Lamb, and state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta; and Republicans Carla Sands, a former ambassador to Denmark, Army veteran Sean Parnell and real estate investor Jeff Bartos.
TMZ quoted the Oz show spokesperson as saying that “Dr. Oz has received encouragement to run for the U.S. Senate, but is currently focused on our show.â€
