The death of a toddler in a Lower East Side shelter back in June has been ruled a homicide after drugs were found in his system, authorities said early Wednesday.
Officers found 22-month-old Charles Rosa-Velloso just after 4 a.m. June 17, lying face-down in a bed and covered in vomit inside the Urban Family Center on the Lower East Side, cops said.
EMS rushed Charles, who was unconscious and unresponsive, to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The medical examiner determined that he died of acute intoxication — and a combination of fentanyl, cocaine, and p-fluorofentanyl was discovered in his system, cops said.
