Good for Arizona.
Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed a bill that will block federal gun control measures.
Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed a bill on Tuesday that aims to stop federal gun reform measures restricting Second Amendment rights in the state.
The Republican has pre-empted President Joe Biden‘s plan to tackle gun violence with a raft of executive orders this week by signing Arizona House Bill 2111.
Under the state legislation, known as the Second Amendment Firearm Freedom Act, federal gun laws deemed to impede the right to bear arms would be “unenforceable” and “null” in Arizona. In addition, public officials will be barred from using funds or personnel to enforce U.S. government measures on gun reform.
This comes as Joe Biden begins his push for gun control.
Here are the six executive actions Biden is going to take:
-The Justice Department, within 30 days, will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of “ghost guns.”
-The Justice Department, within 60 days, will issue a proposed rule to make clear when a device marketed as a stabilizing brace effectively turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act.
-The Justice Department, within 60 days, will publish model “red flag” legislation for states.
-The Administration is investing in evidence-based community violence interventions.
-The Justice Department will issue an annual report on firearms trafficking.
-The President will nominate David Chipman to serve as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
