Reason:
“The good news is, the vast majority of the regulatory acts by a factor of many have been deregulatory and they have been tremendously helpful,” Norquist says. “He’s done a great deal more than anybody in recent history…maybe even more than Reagan did.”ÂÂ
By some measures, he did.ÂÂ
Trump claims to have cut 22 rules for every new regulation. He exaggerates, as usual. The real number is about five regulations repealed for every new one passed, according to the Competitive Enterprise Institute.ÂÂ
Still, whether it’s 5 or 22, It’s good whenever excessive regulations are cut. Regulations take our time, opportunity, and our freedom.
I feel like this is something that gets lost in the shuffle of the everyday news firestorm. Deregulation has always been a cornerstone of Conservative administrations. Yet for some reason, President Trump rarely gets praised for this. As Grover Norquist points out he is likely better than Ronald Reagan on the deregulation front.
When we talk about the accomplishments of President Trump’s Presidency we can’t forget to talk about how Deregulation has spurred a lot of the success.
