Victor Cruzs comments reek of bigotry

Victor Cruz had a lot to say on Thrusday after hearing that teammate Nikita Whitlocks house was once again vandalized. Swastikas were drawn on the walls, other messages such as KKK and “Go back to Africa” were also inscribed. The last part of news that broke was the name of Donald Trump appearing on the wall as well. This sparked many of Cruz’s comments. Lets see what Cruz had to say.

“I think it’s definitely a direct reflection of how this country is being run and how this country is reacting maybe to some of the decisions and some of the ways that this country is being run and the things that are being said by the people at helm of this country and at the helm of our day-to-day lives, From social media all the way up to the White House, these are things that are being spoken of and talked about on a daily basis, the good and the bad — more so the bad at this point right now because that’s all we have to work with. It’s just an unfortunate situation that we’re going through right now.”

“Absolutely. I think there’s a specific mindset that comes with supporting a guy like Donald Trump and supporting what he stands for and there’s a certain type of person that comes with that,I’m not sure that person is always a positive-minded person, if you know what I mean. You’ve just got to be careful.”

Wow. So Cruz says a lot here. Let me start out by saying I think what happened to Nikita Whitlock was absolutely appalling. Someone who has the beliefs that the vandal held is not someone we want in our society or a belief that should be promoted. I hope whoever committed this act is dealt to the highest extent the justice system allows. With all of that being said that does not give Cruz the right to make a statement such as this. I respect the fact he stood up for his teammate. I respect the fact he is taking a stance on this issue. But I do not respect the fact he did it in such an ignorant way.

For starters Trump has openly condemned the KKK and all racist groups that have associated themselves with him. He did so on National Television. Trump has his fair share of scandalous tapes and actions. I did not support those comments or actions but realized he was only human. I challenge everyone to look at yourself. Have you never done or said something that you regret? Or are you just a perfect human? It upsets me that people try and act as if they have never made any mistakes in their life. They act as if they have always done the right and “moral” thing. Well I call bullcrap on that notion.

I am a Trump supporter, I voted for him because I felt he was the choice that would be in the best interest of our country.

“I think there’s a specific mindset that comes with supporting a guy like Donald Trump and supporting what he stands for and there’s a certain type of person that comes with that”

This comment is one that is just unacceptable. It is the stereotyping of a certain group of people without having any actual knowledge of what that groups believes in. Just because I supported Trump doesn’t mean I support an ideology of hatred. It doesn’t make me racist. And it doesn’t mean I am a negative minded person. I have never been a fan of political correctness but if society is going surround itself with it then both sides should be forced to uphold that. I have always liked Cruz, heck I still do like Cruz but I do hope before he speaks on such a sensitive topic again he does so in a manner that reflects truth and not bigotry.
