A report from The New York Times on Friday claimed President Trump bragged about the firing of Comey with Russian Officials.
President Trump told Russian officials in the Oval Office this month that firing the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, had relieved “great pressure†on him, according to a document summarizing the meeting.
“I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,†Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official. “I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.â€
Mr. Trump added, “I’m not under investigation.â€
Now, this is another case of poor journalism from the Times. They showcase just how poor in their own article.
The White House document that contained Mr. Trump’s comments was based on notes taken from inside the Oval Office and has been circulated as the official account of the meeting. One official read quotations to The Times, and a second official confirmed the broad outlines of the discussion.
Not only did these reporters not actually see these notes but they only have certain parts of this outline confirmed. These can lead to them using quotes with no actual context.

Both of these advisors point out the fact that Trump’s comments are purely showcasing a want for better relations with Russia. Anti-Russian sentiment is growing in America and that sentiment is being picked up by members of our government and the Mainstream media. This clearly has hurt any chance of good relations with Russia and Trump was attempting to prove to them that he won’t let these meaningless distractions stop him from fixing Trump-U.S relations.
