Three Civil War battlefields may receive Donald Trump’s salary

According to the USA Today, Donald Trump’s first salary donation may go towards three Civil War battlefields.

The National Park Service has identified projects in three national parks — all Civil War battlefields — that could receive money donated back to the government from President Trump’s presidential salary.

At the top of the list are two projects at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, both of which would cost about $78,000 — almost exactly the amount Trump donated from his first three months of his salary as president.

Now, these plans are not final but do seem likely.

Back on April 3rd Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke had this to say “We’re about $100 or $229 million behind in deferred maintenance on our battlefields alone, and that’s on our 25 national battlefields,”

With the Civil War being such a huge part of our nation’s history it should be of the utmost importance to keep these battlefields in the best shape possible.
