Some Las Vegas Shooting Survivors Are Against More Gun Control

Daily Caller logoSome of the survivors of the Las Vegas shooting doubt that more gun control laws would have prevented Sunday’s mass shooting, according to Wednesday interviews.

Time Magazine spoke with survivors of Sunday’s shooting that believe gun control won’t prevent tragedies like Las Vegas from happening in the future. One such couple, Toby and Kelsey Clark, said they both continue believing in Second Amendment protections.

“He bought his firearms legally but he modified them illegally,” Toby told Time. “I believe in tight gun laws but I also believe in the Second Amendment.” His wife Kelsey agreed, saying that more gun laws wouldn’t have stopped the shooting.

California native Stephanie Fraser lost her husband Brian after he died from his wounds while on the way to the hospital. She also doesn’t believe that tighter gun laws wound have prevented the tragedy, though she did suggest tighter security at the hotel.

“Unless we have metal detectors everywhere we go, this could never be avoided. We can’t live like that,” Fraser said. “Could the Mandalay have been watching their cameras and seen that this guy came in how many times bringing how many suitcases?”

Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old white man, opened fire on a crowd of concert-goers Sunday night from his room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Hotel in Las Vegas. Paddock died of a self-inflicted wound and authorities found 23 firearms in the hotel room. They have yet to discover a motive for the shooting.
