Pope Francis spoke early Sunday morning from the balcony of Saint Peters Basilica. In his message called “to the city and the world”, he spelled out his thoughts on the current state of the world.
Francis said
In the complex and often dramatic situations of today’s world, may the Risen Lord guide the steps of all those who work for justice and peace. May he grant the leaders of nations the courage they need to prevent the spread of conflicts and to put a halt to the arms trade,”ÂÂ
He also touched on how “God is standing beside all those forced to leave their homelands as a result of armed conflicts, terrorist attacks, famine and oppressive regimes”.
During his talk he made no mention of a particular regime.
From a Pope I have been critical of as of late it is nice to see him finally be in touch with reality.
President Trump and his allies must be careful when dealing with the crisis’s facing the entire world right now. The overthrowing of governments hasn’t worked out in the past and it certainly won’t work out in the current world’s climate.
Francis does a great job of warning about unnecessary wars while still backing military action if necessary.
