Dem Senator Joe Manchin has announced he will not support the Democrats new abortion bill – this means there will be bipartisan opposition to the bill.

Senate Democrats were on a collision course Wednesday with Republicans over a bill to protect women’s access to an abortion, with a potential Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade putting the issue on the front burner headed into the midterm elections.
Democrats have acknowledged their bill is certain to fail in the 50-50 Senate, where 60 votes are needed to advance legislation. No Republicans are expected to support the measure, and centrist Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (D., W.Va.) broke with his party and said he opposed the bill. But Democratic Party leaders see the vote as a crucial political step with the prospect of the end of federal abortion protections now looming.
