Is a war with North Korea coming soon?

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer confirmed at The White House press conference on Monday that all 100 senators have been called to The White House for a briefing on North Korea.

Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats are the ones who will be briefing the congressman.

This comes directly after Trump discussed the status of North Korea with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Now Donald Trump has been defiant in his North Korean Policy. Just last week Vice President Mike Pence declared that “strategic patience” in the region is over.

Here is an excerpt from Reuters on Trump’s current stance on North Korea:

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday the U.N. Security Council must be prepared to impose new sanctions on North Korea as concerns mount that it may test a sixth nuclear bomb as early as Tuesday.

“The status quo in North Korea is also unacceptable,” Trump told a meeting with the 15 U.N. Security Council ambassadors, including China and Russia, at the White House. “The council must be prepared to impose additional and stronger sanctions on North Korean nuclear and ballistic missile programs.”

“This is a real threat to the world, whether we want to talk about it or not. North Korea is a big world problem and it’s a problem that we have to finally solve,” he said. “People put blindfolds on for decades and now it’s time to solve the problem.”

U.S. officials have told Reuters tougher sanctions could include an oil embargo, banning North Korea’s airline, intercepting cargo ships and punishing Chinese banks and other foreign doing business with Pyongyang.

It is clear that Trump is ready to take action against Korea in some form. Sanctions may only enrage the defiant Kim Jong-un.

Now it is clear that there are two sides in the fight against North Korea.

We have President Xi Jinping who has asked for countries to exercise restraint when dealing with North Korea. China realizes one thing, if North Korea becomes a war zone millions of migrants will flock to their borders. This will be a huge threat to their national security. China also doesn’t want to be exiled for supporting Kim Jong-un’s regime. So they are calling for North Korea to disband their nuclear arsenal. Something that seems very unlikely considering Kim’s constant missile launches.

President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe have a differing stance. I’m sure both would accept North Korean nuclear disarmament as acceptable but they are not scared to go to war with North Korea. Japan has been the target of a multitude of North Korean missile launches that luckily landed in The South China Sea not causing any harm to them. American and Japanese military units have been running practice exercises to prepare for an invasion if necessary.

My gut tells me Donald Trump is preparing an onslaught on North Korea.  Trump has shown he is not scared to try out the American firepower at his disposal and this will be no different. If North Korea doesn’t disarm their nuclear arsenal soon we could see American intervention in the Korean Penisula before Mid-May.
