‘Boys can have periods too.’ To be taught to 8-year-olds at schools in Brighton, U.K

Story found on Breitbart:

Instruction for teaching school children that “Trans boys and men and non-binary people may have periods.” were included in educational guidelines provided by the Neighborhoods, Inclusion Communities and Equalities Committee to Brighton & Hove Schools.

The guidelines’ overall goal was to reduce the stigma surrounding periods in schools, and to ensure that period related products were available and provided for children at school when needed.

Under the section: “Taking a Period Positive Approach in Brighton & Hove Schools”, one bullet point explains that the following instruction is intended for students in “year 4” (ages 8-9).

“All pupils and students from year 4 receive age and development appropriate
period education within a planned programme of relationships and sex education. ”

The next line regulates that trans students at this age experiencing period related issues are provided with additional support by a school nurse.

“Pupils with very early onset puberty and trans pupils and students are provided
with additional support perhaps from a school nurse, if needed.”

The section also mandates:

“Language and learning about periods is inclusive of all genders, cultures, faiths
and sexual orientations. For example; ‘girls and women and others who have
periods’.”

A later section titled “Key messages for learning about periods”, that outlines what will be taught directly to students concerning periods, says:

“Trans boys and men and non-binary people may have periods.”

From Breitbart:

Commenting on the guidelines, Brighton & Hove City Council said: “By encouraging effective education on menstruation and puberty, we hope to reduce stigma and ensure no child or young person feels shame in asking for period products inside or outside of school if they need them.

‘We believe that it’s important for all genders to be able to learn and talk about menstruation together… Our approach recognises the fact that some people who have periods are trans or non-binary,” a spokesman told the Mail on Sunday.

Breitbart London has previously reported on guidelines issued by the left-wing council in October, which advised that schools may need to alert social services if parents are dismissive towards a ‘gender questioning’ child’s demands to change sex.
